As a Product Designer at Mariana Tek, I had the opportunity to design the company's annual Year in Motion feature, a favorite among our boutique fitness clients and their customers. For the first time at the company, I introduced animations to create a more immersive experience in the mobile app.

Year in Motion transforms a year of workouts into a story users can see, revisit, and share. Inspired by the delight of annual recap experiences, the goal was to make members feel recognized for their consistency, milestones, and relationship with their studio.

Year in Motion persona cards
Illustrated persona cards are assigned to each user based on the day and time they most often took classes.

To make the experience feel more immersive, I introduced motion as a core part of the storytelling. Animated transitions, paced stat reveals, and bold visual moments helped the recap feel less like a report and more like a celebration of progress.

The experience needed to accommodate a wide range of personalized stats, milestones, and activity patterns while still feeling visually consistent across many fitness brands. Using After Effects and Lottie, I created a flexible motion system that could dynamically inject customer data and brand elements like colors and logos, making the recap feel native to each studio's app.
